As I'm still trying to get everything done I need to do before my trip to NYC, I decided to go ahead and post two old pictures today. I took these pictures down at Pelican Point a few weeks ago. This is the Great Blue Heron that lives down there and protects his space from all others. I hope that one day I can get a really good shot of him flying without it being so grey everywhere.

I'd like to say I got and took this shot today, but actually I've been a bit busy with getting ready for my trip to NYC. But I took this a few weeks ago at mom's and it seems appropriate for today. Years ago I found a 4-leaf clover in the playground at school and it's still in my Bible. These days, I still find myself looking for a 4-leaf clover when I happen to be out in the yard.

I just love it when spring hits down here... well except for the pollen that now coats everything! But, one of the best things about spring.. besides the fact that our weather is just beautiful (it's been reaching 79 the last few days)... is that veggies are starting to come in... Is there anything prettier than a bright red tomato?

Didn't get any pictures taken today so I decided to show y'all a few more from the BBQ Championship I went to the other day... Part of the fun is apparently creating an unusual BBQ smoker/grill... both the dragon and the gun are working smokers... And as you can see from the other pictures.. there was some great looking BBQ cooking! And I have to tell you, that BBQ sauce in the last picture was GREAT. We got a private taste... yum!

I was having one of those days at work today so at lunchtime I decided to head over to the causeway and take some pictures.. worse that could happen is I would not get anything but I would have soaked up some sunlight. When I got over there to my favorite spot, the pelicans were out. But,then, I went over just a bit to another spot someone told me about and found the white egrets. I love these birds.... The white is so hard to capture without blowing out the picture. But hey, maybe I'll get more practice now that I've found out where they hang out.
While I was taking the pictures of the egrets, this pelican swam by and waved at me.

I hadn't planned on stopping tonight but I really liked the way these clouds. So I stopped by the Shell Station (it has a great parking area overlooking the bay)to grab a couple of pix of the sunset.. Then while I was there, I grabbed a long exposure over the bridge to catch the car lights.

Okay..I've said this before, but I think it's worth repeating... I really don't know much about plants.... Now.. with that said.... I have to say that whatever these trees are that are blooming with the little pink flowers right now, they are just beautiful. I stopped and snapped a couple of pictures.. and actually I tried to identify them... but I'm just clueless about how to start (can't see the leaves to follow the helpful guides LOL)... Anyway.. here's a couple of shots of the flowers up close..

I absolutely hate having my picture taken... but I got my hair done today... new highlights... (had it shaped/styled about 2 weeks ago)... and I wanted to send mom a pix to show her how well the highlights turned out.... and since I didn't take any other pictures.. I figured.. what the heck.. post it here.... So there you have me... new hairdo and all... :)

I took some pictures.. natural light... of my cat today... I think Bailee feels the way kids do sometimes when they have parents who are photographers.. She gets tired of me pointing that camera at her... But... she so photogenic :)
As for this one below... Mom's cat Thomas and Bailee get along so well... they tend to nap together on the footstool... It always makes me laugh to see them cuddling.

I decided to play with my old manual macro again today after I saw this pretty pink flower at Mom's. It's the flower on some type of clover... but it just looked really pretty... and that got me looking at other little flowers... and then the moss on the live oak... maybe one of these days I'll get that new macro but in the meantime, this will have to do.

I have been wanting to stop and take some pictures of this old barn for over a year now, but I was never really sure if I should since it's not really in an abandoned area.. even though I think this is abandoned. Today, during lunch I drove over to that area and decided to stop. I really want to go back.. and try again at a different time of day to see how the light changes.. It's a really cool old structure..

Well today was one of those days... work was frantic... and the weather matched the mood... it was raining all day.. with tornado warnings... in fact there were some deaths in the state due to tornados... So I didn't get any shooting done.. and when I got home my internet service was down... I finally got it back up.... but basically I just wasn't in the mood to dig out the camera.... so I decided to revisit some pictures I took last week. I couldn't really decide what I thought about this shot... but I think I do like it... the sunset really had the wood on the old pier glowing... I didn't do anything to adjust that color either with filters or post processing.. Anyway...I didn't take it today.. but I wanted to post something.. :)

What a difference just a minute or two makes when it comes to the sunset. I worked late today and when I left, I was thinking I would snap a quick pix in the grocery store because I was just too tired to deal with it. BUT.. then I saw the golden light.. and pink in the sky... and knew I had to get someplace to see the sunset. It seems to revive me. I grabbed these two shots within a minute or so of each other.
This last picture is actually from Sunday at the Ocean Springs Inner Harbor. While we were doing the original 30 day challenge, we got challenged to find a natural heart. I found my heart during that challenge. When I was going through the pictures from Sunday again, I noticed this heart. Very KEWL!
